Poker Story
I am 53 years of age, married 33 years with 2 grown sons.
I have been playing online for a couple of years now but this past Feb I played in my very first live tournament on board a cruise ship while holidaying in Mexico. I was the only female at the single table tourney and I must admit I was somewhat intimidated. My husband watched from the sidelines as one by one the men were knocked out and it was down to 2 of us. I was the slight chip leader and on the first hand I was dealt ACE 9 of diamonds. It was to me first, I raised 3 times the big blind (as my sons taught me) and my opponent called me. Flop came 2 diamonds rag. I bet the pot and my opponent went all in. I called and caught another diamond on the turn and I honestly can't remember what the river was but he had 2 pair (pocket kings and the diamond to boot) after the flop and the win was mine. The prize was only $350.00 but I was so excited. My husband was very proud and I couldn't wait to call our sons and share the news. For a couple of days after that we heard fellow passengers whispering "that's her, she won the hold em tournament" Even my favorite dealer in the ships casino congratulated me.
We are cruising again next month and I look forward to playing in another live tournament.
